Cindy Josephine Kennedy

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Cindy Kennedy, who died peacefully on September 21, 2026, at Andy’s House at the age of 68. Surrounded by her children and daughter-in-law.

Cindy was predeceased by her parents, Earl “Sonny” and Carrie, and by her siblings, Beverly and Darwin. She will be lovingly remembered by her siblings Murray (Wanda), Mike (Leah), and Laurie (Bruce). Cindy shared an especially close bond with Laurie and Bruce, who did so much for her and affectionately called her “Cindy Lou Who.”

Cindy was a loving mother to Jenn (Nathan), Samantha (Otis), Darwin (Jen), and Angie. She was a proud Granny to Jory, Vicki, Kaylob, Shavane, Grace, DJ, Addy, Angel, Alex and James, and a loving great-granny to Sophie and Chloe. She will also be deeply missed by her nieces, nephews, extended family, and many cherished friends.

For 19 years, Cindy drove a taxi and took great pride in the countless friendships she formed along the way. Her Saturday morning coffee club also held a very special place in her heart. She treasured the friendship, laughter, stories and time spent together each week.

Outgoing, eccentric and completely one of a kind, Cindy had a special way of making friends wherever she went. She loved her family fiercely and would do anything for anyone.

Cindy loved the few destination holidays she got to have and was especially delighted when, on one of her favourite trips, she was given the nickname “Lady Gaga” a name she proudly embraced.

Cindy loved Halloween, a good laugh and keeping everyone around her entertained. Her sense of humour stayed with her until the very end. She was never afraid to say exactly what she was thinking, and those who knew her will forever smile when remembering their own favourite “classic Cindy” story.

Cindy also dearly loved her cat, Briar Rose Six Toes. Her family is especially grateful that Briar Rose was able to join her at Andy’s House and bring her comfort during her final days.

The care and compassion Cindy and her family received at Andy’s House were incredible. Her family will always be grateful to everyone who cared for Cindy and helped make her final days peaceful, comfortable, and surrounded by love.

A celebration of Cindy’s life, complete with a fitting touch of her beloved Halloween spirit, will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Cindy’s memory may be made to Hospice Muskoka - Andy’s House or Muskoka Women’s Shelters and Services, which operates Muskoka Interval
