Catherine "Cathy" Collard passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, friendship, and love.
Born on December 5, 1939, Cathy lived a life full of community, connection, and joy. She was known for her quick wit, infectious laugh, and ability to make people feel welcome wherever she went. Whether she was sharing stories, lending a helping hand, or gathering with friends, Cathy brought warmth and energy to every room she entered.
Cathy dedicated her professional life to caring for others and sharing that knowledge with future generations of healthcare professionals. She believed deeply in the importance of helping people and was known for her strong work ethic, high standards, and commitment to doing things well. Outside of work, she found fulfillment through music, volunteering, lifelong learning, creative pursuits, and the many friendships that enriched her life.
Cathy was predeceased by her beloved husband, George Collard. She is lovingly remembered by her partner of many years, Bill Harvey, whose companionship was an important part of her life.
She leaves behind her children George (Sue), Glen (Lisa), and Christine (Ron); her grandchildren Mackenzie (Stuart), Devon, Sydney, and Matthew (Leah); and her great-grandson Maverick, whose arrival she eagerly anticipated. Although she did not have the opportunity to meet him, she was excitedly awaiting his birth and would have undoubtedly spoiled him from day one.
Cathy will also be missed by her beloved cats, Pippin and Pepper, who provided her with endless comfort and companionship.
Those who knew Cathy will remember her love of singing, quilting, bridge, cheering on the Toronto Blue Jays, and spending time with family and friends. They will also remember her fondness for all things sparkly, her sense of humour, and her belief that life was meant to be enjoyed. She never passed up an opportunity to laugh, celebrate, or make someone's day a little brighter.
The family invites friends and loved ones to join them for a Celebration of Life on Saturday, July 4, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at The Venue at the Canadian Raceboat Hall of Fame in Bracebridge. The celebration will include a special performance by the Muskoka Lakes Singers, a group that held a special place in Cathy's heart. The family encourages everyone attending to share stories, laughter, and perhaps even a little sparkle in her honour.
In keeping with Cathy's generous spirit, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Muskoka.
