Bruce Edward Ruttan

Passed away Monday, June 2, 2025, at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital. Bruce was the loving partner of Edith Ruttan. Beloved father of Thomas Ruttan (Kimberly Hicks-Ruttan) Joann Baker (Peter Baker) Betty Ruttan and Arlene Bunn (Darren Bunn). Beloved brother of Sandra Melvin, Ruth Ruttan and Nancy Acton (Ron). He will be missed by his grand children Katie, Derek, Brendan, Jessica, Hunter, Chad, Jessie and Cassidy as well as his great grand children Penelope, Emmy Lou, Audrey, Mason and Colton. Uncle to Annette Melvin, Rob Melvin (Tammy, and child Vincent), Deanne (Randy children Samantha and Grant), Cassie (Randal) and Corrie. Bruce was tough as nails. He worked hard played harder and took life as it came. Hunting was a favourite pastime as well as fishing. He never met a beer, cookie or ice cream he didn’t like. One of the nicest men you would ever meet. A champion for the underdog. He drove an F150 his entire life with the exception of a brown Oldsmobile Cutlass that was faster than Joe Cant’s Dog (yep, I don’t know either, he had a lot of sayings). His red plaid shirt and trucker hat never far away. If you knew him, you were lucky. If you didn’t you wished, you did. Many thanks to the hardworking staff at the Pines as well as Dr. Jones. You made his last years bearable. Gone now but his spirit will always live on!

Family and friends are invited to attend visitation on Friday, June 6, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the Reynolds Funeral Home, 1 Mary Street, Bracebridge. A Celebration of Bruce's life will be held on Saturday, June 7, from 12-3pm at 102 Pine Street, Bracebridge. Interment on Monday, June 9 at 11am at Langford Cemetery.
