Brenda Dawson (Hillman)

On Dec 27, 2023 after a lengthy battle with Dementia,  Brenda Dawson passed away peacefully with her family by her side, at Andy's House Hospice.  She was in her 81st year.  

Beloved wife of Cliff for 59+ years.

Loved Mother of Glen (Jane), Sandra (Shaun) and Janet (Scott).

Cherished Grandmother of Sarah, Gregor, Cecily and Rachel.

Predeceased by her parents Louis and Georgina Hillman, Her sister Iona Brodie and her brother Bartley Hillman.

Brenda was incredibly talented and generous with her crafts.  Knitting, crocheting, or rug hooking, her hands were rarely still.  Active in her community, she was a founding member of Muskoka Pioneer Power, a member of the Georgian Bay Steam Association, and local Rug Hooking groups.  She enjoyed demonstrating her sock knitting machine and her rug hooking at various shows.  Brenda went to the Northern School of Commerce, had a License to sell Insurance and did bookkeeping for Cliff with his business.  Alongside her sister Noni, they ran their own bookstore (Ye Olde Shoppe)for several years.

Cremation has taken place.

Friends and Family are invited to visitation at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Bracebridge, on January 3rd, 2023 at 10:00 AM, with a Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 AM. Cremation has taken place.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society, Andy's House Hospice, or South Muskoka Memorial Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
