Arthur Melvyn Hall
On September 18, 1927, Arthur Melvyn Hall was born in Sharon, Ontario, son of the late Frederick Hall and Daisy Ward Hall. Arthur attended Public School in Sharon and from age 14 took over the family farm. On September 14, 1957 he married Beverly Anne Smith and together they raised their family on the farm. He was proud of his community and served on East Gwillimbury council for nine years. Arthur retired from farming in 1986 and moved to Toronto with Beverly after she had been Ordained and took on her first Anglican Parish, where they remained until 1991. They moved to various parishes where Arthur was always a welcome and active member, often found helping out in the kitchen. After one and a half years in Midhurst they moved to Buckhorn Lake in 1992 and then to Bracebridge in 2007. Arthur was an optimistic, outgoing, friendly, humorous man who loved to tease and kid around with his grandchildren. He could often be found creating “works of Art” for them to play with. He spent many enjoyable hours with his friends playing Bridge and Bid Euchre, often boasting of his scores and winning the $2.00 prize for the day. Together with Bev, he enjoyed trips to Britain, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, United States and across Canada. While living in Sharon he was a member and Past Master of Sharon Masonic lodge #97 A.F.& A.M. and he played in the Newmarket Bugle Band. In Bracebridge he was a member of the Muskoka Lodge #360. Friends and family remember Arthur as an honest, hardworking man who was always ready to help his neighbours. On Wednesday September 4, 2019 Arthur peacefully passed away in his sleep at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital, with family by his side. Survived by his wife The Reverend Beverly Hall, children Kimberly Hall (Dan Cranford), Pamela Hall and John Hall. Also missed by his grandchildren Meredith Vickers, Katrina and Larkin Mosscrop, Margot and Natalie Hall, great grandchildren Emerson, Maxwell, Brinley and Briar Rose Vickers, and siblings Marjorie Johnson, Madelene Easton, Elda Jackson, Christy Hall and Patricia Rutledge. He is predeceased by his brothers, Joseph and Lyman Hall, and sisters Blanche Roberson and Erma Wood.
