William Alexander Tryon
It is with great sadness our family announces the passing of Alex on Nov.9/19 at the age of 98. Predeceased by his wife of 60 years Marie (nee Hood). He will be lovingly remembered by his children Brenda and Bill, grandchildren Shannon, Tyler (wife Lisa), Natalie (husband Geoff), and Thomas, and great-grandchildren Hannah, Nathan, Owen, Graeme, Lucas and Lauren.
He loved nothing better than spending time at his Leonard Lake cottage with his family, enjoying the view, reading novels, swimming, fishing, playing cards and board games, crossword and word jumble puzzles in the daily Star. He water skied until hip replacement forced him to stop in his late 70s. We enjoyed having conversations with him about current events and sports- he was an avid Toronto Maple Leaf and Blue Jays fan.
He proudly served Canada in WW2 from 1941 to 1945 with the RCAF as a wireless operator. He returned to work in Toronto for a number of years before working at the Department of National Revenue January 16/48 -June 29/84, where he continued to serve Canada obtaining his CGA designation in the 1960s.
We would like to give special thanks to the staff, and other residents at Harwood Place for their kind support and care in his last years.
Dad is now, as he would say “ Back at square one, over and out”.
Visitation will be held at Reynolds Funeral Home in Bracebridge on Saturday, December 14, 2019 from 12:00 – 1:00 PM. The funeral will be held in the chapel at 1:00 PM. Messages of condolence for the family may be offered at www.reynoldsfuneral.com
