The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Zionnie Smith can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Condolence From: Kendra Morton
Condolence: What seemed like forever but what was only 5 years since you welcomed me into the Robertson family from the first time I met you. Although it wasn't official yet, you are and will always be my mother in law, and an amazing mother to my soon to be husband. Being a city girl coming up to Washago you didn't hesistate to teach me everything I needed to know about the country. Thanks to your patience and love for canoeing I now can row a canoe on my own (although sometimes I don't get anywhere).
A drive was never to far for you, you always came to the city to spend Christmas, Easter and other occasions with my family. I am thankful for the love you had for the three boys and the men they are today thanks to you. Every time I see a woodpecker I would always say Oh that's just a woodpecker, but to you that's a downy, always learned so much.
Your laugh, your smile, and short but sweet phone calls sure will be missed but will forever be in my heart.
Love you forever,

Condolence From: Jeanine Robertson
Condolence: We all knew her as Zionnie, Zi, Mom, Grandma, Zamboni (children at the daycare) and most touching to me, our girls called her MIMI. 17 years ago I entered the Family and 11 years ago she was officially my Mother-in-Law. So hard to say goodbye when you are not ready to.

Loving, kind, giving, patient, good heart, loyal and respected were all qualities found in Zi. I thank her for being the best Mother-in-Law one can have but I most appreciate the way Bob & Zi have raised their 3 sons. These qualities shine in every one of them. Her face lit up everytime she spoke of them. They have made her proud and will continue to do so I am sure.

She has not only made an impact on myself thru the years but also SO loved by our two little girls. Zi rarely missed a birthday party, dance rehersal, skate carnival or gymnastics competition. Thru rain or snow storms this did not stop her. Camping trips to taking them for a week in the summer, she enjoyed it all. She was a PROUD Mimi and Gracie & Reese will miss her dearly. As the girls say, "Mimi is having a party with the angels and one day we will see her again."

The memories will continue to be shared in our home as well as all the photos. You will be terribly missed but NEVER forgotten. We love you! ❤

Condolence From: Glen & Dianne Mawdsley
Condolence: I was in total shock when cousin Marg. called me about Zionnie. Bob, Trevor & Janine, Gracie & Reese, Patrick, Shane. Our hearts go out to you. Zionnie was our flower girl 59 years ago, this Sept. along with Glens sisters. Aunt Florence made their dresses. My Mom went to Parents Night for Zi. when she was in High School. When she had you Boys she was so proud. She called me and kept me up to date on all of you. When Gracie and Reese were born she was so happy and cherished the time she spent with them. She would call me with a gardening question, and then tell me all about what everyone was doing. She was so proud of all of you. Keep each other close, I know that is what she would have wanted. Love Dianne

Condolence From: Debbie Potts
Condolence: I will miss my friend Zionnie deeply, she was such a caring genuine person who was always there to listen to me and be there for me through the good times and the bad. I met Zionnie at Gravenhurst Children's Place over 10 years ago and I thought to myself I've seen this lady before at the arena for hockey games. From then on we developed a friendship where we talked about our families, cooking (Zionnie's baking=yummy) and life in general. Zionnie is someone who truly cared about people including me and my son Remington. I want Bob, Trevor, Patrick and Shane to know that you were her world and she was so proud of you all in your accomplishments. I will miss hearing those stories but am so thankful I have been given wonderful memories and this beautiful friendship.

Condolence From: Janice Ireland
Condolence: First and foremost I would like to say how truly sorry I am for your loss.
Zionnie was a proud mother and Bob's best friend and that was very apparent in the way she talked about her family. You are SO loved.
Zionnie was part of our Gravenhurst Children's Place family for many years and we miss her so much. She had a presence about her that was calming and loving and we could all feel that; our children, parents and especially our staff. We will cherish the wonderful memories we have of her.

Condolence: To Zionnie's family I am so saddened by your loss for she was a wonderful person. We who worked with her loved her. She spoke of her family a lot and we know how much you were all loved. What a nice change for her to have two grand-daughters to bestow onto them the importance of enjoying nature and the great outdoors.*I will miss her.

Condolence: To Zionnie's family, I send my sympathies to you all at this difficult time. I knew Zionnie back in the good old days as kids.
I also knew her parents and brother when we lived in the Orillia area and attended PSCI. She was a gentle person even back then.
Stay strong and know that you will always have good memories in your mind and heart of Zionnie.

Condolence From: Dianna Auchterlonie
Condolence: Thank you...

For teaching me how to ride a horse and paddle a canoe properly.
For encouraging me to swim to the rock. And when I got older, paddle beside me as I swam much farther distances.
For practising with me when I tried to make the softball team in grade 8.
For teaching me to appreciate nature in all her glory, to respect the environment and understand what a precarious scale it is. Long before it was cool.
For introducing me to Simone and Garfunkel, Cat Stevens and Joni Mitchell.
For sharing your knowledge, your encouragement and smile.
For bestowing upon me your white light, and it is so wonderfully bright.
From babysitting me, through my own grand parenting, you have guided, comforted, advised, cautioned... loved. You have been my Webster's, my Dr. Spock, my Dear Abby and frequently my compass. Thank you for that. Words can not express how grateful I am that my father fell in love with you and you with him. Thank you for giving me 3 wonderful step brothers who I know you are so proud of. They are truly amazing men!
Most of all, Thank you for making my father happy for 38+ years. I will be eternally grateful to have had you in my life. RIP Dear Zi.
